Additional criticality calculation required for the NUHOMS-32PTH cask:

  • NUHOMS HD criticality analyses for Part 72 credit presence of soluble boron in SFP

- 10CFR50.68 requires subcriticality for unborated conditions in SFP

  • Surry SFP analysis does not assume soluble boron for normal operation

XPominion 1 OCFR50.68 Compliance New criticality calculations performed for NUHOMS-32PTH casks for Surry fuel:

  • No credit taken for soluble boron
  • Fuel assembly burnup credit taken Plan to amend Surry Part 50 TS to ensure compliance with basis of criticality calculation
  • Add minimum burnup requirements for fuel to be stored in NUHOMS-32PTH system
  • Similar to limit on burnup currently in Surry TS for Region 1 of SFP
