ALLEGATION NO. RIV-92-A-0016 During the course of NRC Inspection 50-445/92-18; 50-446/92-18, Dr. Blair Nicholas and I reviewed an allegation concerning the disposal of radioactive material in a landfill located on the licensee's properly. The licensee's representatives acknowledged that an active landfill was located across the highway from the engineering building.
They stated that construction materials were placed in the landfill and that no radioactive materials were disposed there.
We found no evidence to substantiate the allegations or justify radiation surveys as a further means of review by the inspectors.
Without additional information to lend credibility to the allegation, I recommend that the matter be closed.
