REPORT NO. 50-424/88-29 Thank you for your response of September 21, 1988, to our Notice of Violation issued on August 25, 1988, concerning activities conducted at your Vogtle facility.
After careful consideration of your response to violation 50-424/88-29-01 we have concluded for the reasons presented in the enclosure to this letter, that the response is inadequate.
Our concerns. were discussed on October 5,1988, with Mr. J. Edwards of your staff and Ms. C. Perny of this office.
It was agreed that a revised response will be provided to this office within 30 days of the date of this letter.
As indicated in your response, we acknowledge that the Notice of Violation is applicable to docket number 50-424 only.
The material enclosed herewith contains Safeguards Information as defined by 10 CFR 73.21 and its disclosure to unauthorized individuals is prohibited by Section 147 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
Therefore, the enclosure will not be placed in the Public Document Room.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

ow Gentlemen:
In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Georgia Power Company (GPC) submits the enclosed infonnation in response to NRC Inspection Report 50-424/88-29 which concerns the inspection conducted by Mr. A. Tillman and Ms.
C. Perny of the NRC Region II staff on July 18-22, 1988.
A copy of this response is being provided to the NRC Region II office for review.
We believe that the Notice of Violation for NRC Inspection Report 50-424/88-29 (as submitted by NRC Region !! letter dated August 25, 1988)
incorrectly refers to Plant Vogtle Ur.it 2 by docket number and as a result implies that it is in violation also.
The Inspection Report "Details' section specifically identifies the violations as being ap Unit i by the violation designators '50-424/88-29-01,plicable to Plant Vogtle and '50-424/88-29-02".
In the enclosure, transcription of the NRC violation precedes the GPC response.
Should there be any questions in this regard, please contact this office at any time.
