Electrical (Cables and Terminations I and II) - Observation of Work and Work Activities (Unit 1)
The inspector selected the following completed cables for examination:
1*KF510, 1.*ATC717, 1*ATC581, 1*RW537, 1*ND521, 1*NS503, 1*EPL502, 1*EPL501, 1*EPL539, 1*EPC586, 1*ND549, 1*EPC527, 1*KC501, 1*ND514, 1*ND529, 1*CA501, 1*LD505 and 1*KF501.
The cables were examined to assure that the SAR and QAM requirements were complied with in the areas of receiving inspection, storige, handling, identification, use of specified materials, work and QC procedures, size, type of cable, location, routing, protection, separation, raceway supports and anchorages, raceway identification, cable pulling procedures, raceway loading, cable terminations and high potential testing of the SKV power cables.

Electrical (Cables and Terminations I and II) - Review of Quality Records (Unit 1)
The inspector selected the cables identified in paragraph 5 for a quality records review to assure that the requirements of the SAR and QAM were complied with in the areas of receiving inspection, acceptance, vendor certified test reports, material certifications, size and type of cable, location, routing, protection, separation, bend radius, raceway identifi-cation, cable pulling, pulling tension, termination and raceway supports.
High potential test reports for the SKV cable were examined.
Twenty-one nonconformance reports were examined to assure that the reports were cur-rent, complete, reviewed by management and retrievable.
The reports ade-quately described the problem, and the status of corrective action.
Within the areas examined, there were no violations identified.

Licensee Identified Items

a.
(0 pen) 413/81-12-01, 414/81-12-01 - Isolation of Class IE isolation valve. The licensee reported this item to Region II on April 28, 1981.
The licensau issued a design change authorization ECSP-090 to correct the problem. This item will remain open pending the completion.of the necessary work.
b.
(Closed) 413/81-12-02 - Wiring discrepancies on emergency diesel generator control panels.
The licensee reported this item on May 1, 1981, and issued a final report dated May 29, 1981.
The vendor has i
rewired the panels to the approved drawings. The work was documented on nonconformances 8889, 8900, 8901 and 8902. The inspector examined the panels and nonconformances to assure that the work was completed.
c.
(0 pen) 413/81-12-03, 414/81-12-03 - Environmental qualification of equipment. The licensee reported this item on November 30, 1979. The licensee is continuing evaluations.
d.
(Closed) 413/81-12-04 - Leaking gas filled transformers. The licensee reported this item on May 1,1981 and issued a final report on May 29, 1981. The transformer gas leaks were identified as defective welds.
The welds have been rewelded.
The transformer was purged, refilled with Freon anc tested. The inspector examined the work packages which covered the work.

(Closed) IE Bulletin 80-23 - Valcor Solenoid Valve The licensee respondad to the Bulletin on February 12, 1981.
This site received 100 of the subject valves. The licensee has shipped eight valves to Oconee Site and the remaining 92 valves were returned to the vendor for rework. The reworked solenoids have been retunied to the site. The

licensee responded to IEB 80-23 for Oconee and included the eight valves from Catawba which will be replaced with valves from ASCO. The NRC Resident Inspector at Oconee is aware of the above.
9.
Inspector Followup Item (Closed) 413/80-11-04, 414/80-11-04 - Calibration of crimping tools.
The licensee has established a procedure for calibrating the Thomas and Belts WTIASA tools. All other crimping tools have bee-incorporated in Construc-tion Procedure CP388, Revision 2, dated May 26, 1981.
The use of the Revision 2 of CP 388 is delayed pending receipt of the test gages.
