Results Of the two areas inspected, no violations or deviations were identified.

Unresolved Items Unresolved items were not identified during this inspection.

Independent Inspection Effort The inspector examined: the exciter and voltage regulator cabinets for emergency diesel generators 2A and 28 and the overall electrical installa-tion in the diesel generator room, the instrument cabinets in the main control room for termination work, instrument installation i-the auxiliary building for proper tubing installation, and the installation of the optical isolators in Unit 1.
Within the areas examined, there were no violations identified.

IE Circulars and Bulletins (Closed) IE Circular 78-08 - Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Electrical Equipment. The licensee has responded to NUREG 0588 for Unit 2 on November 8,1979. NRR is reviewing this item and will coordinata the NUREG 0588 response with the license e .
(Closed) IE Circular 80-23 - Potential Defects in Beloit Power Systems Emergency Generator. The licensee reviewed the circular and determined the subject generators are not used at McGuire station. The inspector verified the generators were not manufactured by Beloit.
(Closed) IE Circular 81-01 - Design Problems Involving Indicating Pushbutton Switches Manufactured by Honeywell, Incorporated. The licensee reviewed the circular and determined that the subject switches are not used at the McGuire station.
(Closed) IE Circular 79-04 - Loose Locking Nut on Limitorque Valve Opera-tors.
The licensee has reviewed this item for Units 1 and 2.
The insrec-tion and rework for Unit I was completed prior to fuel load. The work is continuing for Unit 2.
(Closed) IE Circular 79-05 - Moisture Leakage in Stranded Conductors. The 'icensee reviewed this item and conducted testing to assure that this item is not a problem at McGuire.
(Closed) IE Bulletin 80-06 - Engineering Safety Features Reset Controls.
The licensee has reviewed this item and found it is not applicable to McGuire.

Licensee Identified Items (50.55(e)) i (Closed) 370/79-11-01, Improper insulation of electrical leads on solenoid , valve coils.
The licensee is replacing all Valcor coils as part of I IEB 80-23. This item will be followed as IEB 80-23.
! (Closed) 370/80-14-08, Diesel generator instrument air solenoid valve deficiency. The licensee issued a final report on July 25, 1980. The work l was performed under Request for Shutdown serial 5707.
The inspector l examined the installation and the documentation.
! (Closed) 370/80-06-01, Rotork valve operators purchased as non-safety. The licensee issued a final report dated October 12, 1979. The valve operators have been replaced with qualified operators.
The work was performed and documented on Nonconforming item report 9579.
The inspector examined the
installation and reviewed the documentation.
(Closed) 369/80-10-08, 370/80-06-07, Control cable environmental qualifica-tions inadequate. The licensee issued a final report on March 27, 1980, and an amended final report dated March 17, 1980.

(Closed) 370/78-14-03, Upper head injection accumulator instrumentation system. The licensee issued a final report on September 19, 1978.
The licensee contractor has performed the work on Field Change Notice (FCN) DBP-16549. The inspector examined the FCN and work acceptance documenta-tion.
(Closed) 370/81-09-01, Diesel generator governor droop springs.
The licensee issued a final report on May 21, 1981.
The licensee has had the governor vendor replace the questionable spring.
(Closed) 369/81-04-01, (0 pen) 370/81-01-01, Improper operation of Electromax optical isolators. The licensee submitted a final report dated October 10, 1980. The work was complete on Unit 1.
The inspector examined the instal-lation and reviewed Work Requests 91046 and 91041 which document the work.
The work on Unit 2 has not been completed at this time.
(Closed) 370/80-14-07, Hydrogen purge system valve misapplication.
The licensee issued a final report on August 4,1980.
The valve IVE12 has a SD-C-102731 Class 2 valve installed. The inspector examined the documenta-tion on the welding, and the vedor certificate for the valve.
(Closed) 369/79-28-05, 370/79-16-04, Failure of nonsafety controls in safety-related systems.
The licensee isseed final reports dated ' September 7, 1979 and October 17, 1979. The work has been completed on Unit 1 by shutdown requests 1945 to 1950.
The inspector examined the shutdown request for completion, and QC inspection.
Unit 2 work will be done as part of the originc1 installation.
The inspector examined the Unit 2 drawings to verify the change was incorporated.
(Closed) 369/81-20-01, Defective coil leads on Valcor solenoid valves. The licensee issued a final report on August 7, 1980. The licenses replaced all Valcor coils in Unit 1 in response to IEB 80-23. This item is closed.

Inspector Followup Item (Closed) 370/81-07-01, Control of smoking materials and polyurethane pads in ! the control room. The licensee has taken the necessary corrective action.
The inspector examined twelve Unit 2 cabinets and the Unit 2 main control boards.
l-(Closed) 370/81-07-02, Procedure for Cable Jacket Repairs. The licensee has l issued Specification for Repair of Separated Armor or Jacket. MCS 1390.01-00-049, Revision 2, dated May 19, 1981. This specification contains the required repair instructions for cable jackets.

Electrical (Cables and Terminations II) - Observation of Work Activities (Unit 2) The inspector examined the high potential test records of 16 five KV cables to assure that procedures were being followed and the results were reviewed.
The cable records reviewed were as follows: 2*CA503, 2*CA504, 2*KC615, 2*KC616, 2*KC617, 2*KC518, 2*KF502, 2*KF503, 2*EPC621, 2*EPC623, 2*RN559, 2*NV537, 2*NV538, 2*N0551, 2*NIS01, and 2*ND550.
Within the areas examined, there were no violations identified.
10.
Electrical (Cables and Terminations) - Review of Quality Records (Unit 2) The inspector examined the qualification records for four QC inspectors and two QA analysts to assure that records were acceptable and the qualifica-tions were up to date.
The inspector examined for QA audits involving cable and terminations.
Within the areas examined, there were no violations identified.
