This routine, unannounced inspection invrtved 56 inspector-hours onsite in the areas of electrical cables and terminations; instrumentation components and systems; instrumentation cables and terminations; licensee identified items; followup on IE Bulletin 80-23 and previous inspection findings.

Results:

Of the areas inspected, no apparent items of noncompliance or deviation were identified.

(Closed) Violation 370/80-09-01, Inadequate procedure for the inspec-tion of cable terminations.

Th9 licensee sas submitted a response dated August 22, 1980. Procedure "*1B and Construction procedure CP820 have been revised. The above documents have updated the termination inspection program to include the necessary inspections.

The licensee has submitted a response dated August 22, 1980..Th9 licensee has issued Construction procedure CDS01 which documents the checkout program for electrical equipment. This item is closed.

(Closed) Violation 370/60-09-07, Cable installation minimum bend radius tiolated. The licensee n:s submitted a response dated August 22, 1980.

The licensee has replaced tne :able with a new cable. The inspectors reviewed the documentation of the installation. The licensee's inspec-tors have been instructed to be more observant for the problem. This item is closed.

(Closed) IFI-370/80-09-03: Separation requirements for redundant valve operator housing.

The licenses design engineering has stated that design review has assured that there are no violations of the sepa-ration requirements. The inspector has no further questions.

(Closed) IFI-370/80-09-06, Calibration of Crimping tools. The licensee has issued Construction procedure CP806. This procedure documents the calibration of the tooling used to terminate cables.

The licensee. has reinstructed the fire extinguisher inspectorr.

The inspecto.s checked fire extinguishers in all areas and found toat the monthly inspections were uo to date. This item is closed.

(Closed) IFI-370/80-13-03, Maintenance of Hose Stations. The licensee has replaced hoses which were questionable.

The inspectors observed hose stations in unit 2 and found that they were inspected monthly and

R.T.D. cables insufficiently qualified. The licensee has submitted a final report dated January 4, 1980.

The licensee has removed the nonqualified cable and installed qualified cable for unit I under. Shutdown Request 2103. Qualified cable will be installed in unit 2. This item is closed.

The licensee has submitted a final' report on March 27, 1980. The work has.been completed. The licensee found it necessary to add splices at the penetration termination.

The inspector requested the licensee amend his final response to document the necessity for splices and design engineering approvals.

This item remains open pending the submittal-of the amended response.

Defective coils - Valcor solenoid valves. The licensee has submitted a response dated October 30, 1980.

The Valcor solenoids have been changed in unit 1.

The inspector examined seven solenoids which were reworked. The changeout is documented on nonconforming report 12207.

The unit 2 work will be done at a later date. This item is closed for

Unit 1 only.

The inspector selected safety-related instrument cables 2RN578, 2RN565, 2RN567, 2RN572 and 2RN574 for examination. The inspector reviewed supple-mental inspection instructions:

. mental inspection instructions, and installation drawings were complieo with in the areas of issue control, nonconformance control, material identifica-tion, size, type of. cable, wireway ' sealing, location, routing, protection, separation, wireway identification, wireway loading and terminations.

Within the' areas examined, no violations were identified.

Electrical (cables and terminations I-and II) - Observation of Work and Work L Activities (Unit 2).

The following safety-related control and power cables were examined:

complied with in the areas of issue control, nonconformance coretrol,

material identification, inspection procedures, work procedures, size, type of. ~ cable, ' wi reway sealing, location, routing, protection, separation, i

grounding, wireway identification, loading and terminations.

Within the areas examined, no violations were identified.

Instrumentation (components and Systems) - Observation of Work and Work Activities.

The inspector selected instru,ent 2CAFT5101 for examination. The installa-tion was examined to asscre tnat the requirements of the FSAR and QAM were complied with in the areas of identification, location, supports, protec-tion, inspection, physical separation, and nonconformance control.

Within the areas examined, there were no violations identified.
