Exit Interview The inspection scope and findings were summarized on May 8, 1980 with those persons indicated in Paragraph 1 above.

Licensee Action on Previous Inspection Findings (Closed) Unresolved Item 364/79-10-01, Emergency escape hatch access. The inspector examined the modification to the piping and support steel in the in front of the escape hatch inside containment. The area is now area clear to permit adequate movement of personnel in this area.

(Closed) Infraction 364/80-04-01, Final cleaning of exterior surfaces of stainless steel piping.

The licensee's response to RII dated April 28, 1980 informed the NRC that evaluation of the method for cleaning stainless steel pipe had been reviewed by their Architect-Engineer. Further a work procedure has been developed and a method for determining the chloride and flouride concentration on the surface is now in use.

(Closed) Unresolved Item, 364/78-09-01, Verification of anchor bolt length.

This item will be reviewed during inspections and evaluations required by IE Bullet #ns 79-02 and 79-14.

IE Bulletins (IEB) and IE Circulars (IEC)

(Closed) IEB 78-12 and 78-12A, A Typical Weld Material in Reactor Pressure Vessels Welds.

The manufacturer for the NSSS supplier has submitted a report to NRR which was acceptable.

(Closed) IEB 79-11, Faculty Overcurrent Trip Device in Circuit Breakers for Engineered Safety Systems.

The licensee's response dated May 29, 1979 advised that they do not ese type circuit breaker tripping device.

(Closed) IEB 79-23, Potential Failure of Emer< C7 Diesel Denerator Field Exciter Transformer. The licensee's October 1979 response advised that

this type connection is not used at the Farley plant.

(Closed) IEB 79-25, Failure of Westinghouse BFD Relays in Safety-Related Systems.

The licensee's response dated December 7,1979 advised that this type relay is not used or planned for used at Farley plant.

(Closed) IEB 79-27, Loss of Non Class IE Instrumentation and Control Power System Bus During Operation. While no response is required this situation will be addressed at the time of the OL issuance.

(Closed) IEB 79-28, Possible Malfunction of NAMCO Model EA 180 Limit Switches at Elevated Temperatures. The licensee advised RII on January 8, 1980 that all switches of this model were received at the site prior to the date listed in this bulletin.

(Closed) IEB 80-03, Loss of Charcoal From Standard Type II, 2 inch, Tray Absorber Cells.

In this response dated March 5, 1980, APC0 advised that the Flander type II filters are not used. However, the recommended five units-of the American Filter type 2701 filters were inspected and found satisfactory.

(Closed) IEB's 79-08, 79-12, 79-17, 79-18, 79-21, 79-26, 80-04, and 80-06.

The listed IEB's were for information only or did not apply to this unit.

(Closed) IEC's 79-17, 79-18, 79-19, 79-20, 79-21, 79-22, 79-23, 79-24, 80-01, and 80-02. The inspector reviewed the actions taken by the licensee for the listed IECs. The licensee has examined each item listed in these circulars and the actions are satisfactory.

(Closed) LII 364/78-10-01; Additional corrective action to previously reported and closed item (CDR-auxiliary feedwater system, single failure criteria not met).

to insure compliance to seismic requirements.

This equipment has been released for startup testing.

(0 pen) LII 364-79-21-01, Class III valves installed in Class II systems.

APC0 responded that the valves would be upgraded or replaced on January 11, 1980. Two valves are still on order.

Inspector Followup Items (IFI)

(Closed) IFI 364/79-14-01, Fire seal penetration procedure. The inspector reviewed the Field Procedure 5.5.3.1, Penetration Seal Installation Inspec-tion, which was revised to include reinspection when a previously accepted penetration seal was violatr.d. The reinspection data sheets for 3 seals which had been repaired were examined and found in order.

(Closed) IFI 364/80-03-02, Unavailable flushing test data for underground piping to service water intake structure.

The inspector examined the documentation for the flushing of this header. The flushing was performed and documented under Work Request 19291 dated April 29, 1980.

(Closed) IFI 364/78-21-03, Installation of qualified stem mounted limit switches. The inspector reviewed the QC inspection records for the change out of limit switches on valves that are located in containment. All limit switches have been replaced.

Independent Inspection Effort The inspector conducted a walk through examination of the auxiliary building and the operating level of the reactor building.

Pre-op testing of the systems is in progress.

The hot functional was in progress.

Cleanup operations to remove construction debris was in progress.

Within the areas examined, no items of noncompliance or deviations were

Five QC inspectors who had verified certain tests were selected and their certifications to witness the testing were verified for that period of time that the testing was performed.

The inspector continually reviews nonconforming reports for proper discrip '

tion, resolution and reingection. No major problems have been discovered to date.
