Special, announced management meeting to discuss the results of the NRC board convened to evaluate the Licensee's Performance from December 1,1979 l
to November 30, 1980 as part of the NRC's Systematic Assessment of Licensee l
Performance (SALP) Program. Areas addressed included:
Plant Operations; Refueling Operations; Maintenance; Surveillance; Licensed Operator Training; QA/QC; Reporting; Committee Activities; Procurement; Fire Protection; ISI/IST; Design Changes and Modifications; Radiation Protection; Environmental Protection; Eme gency Preparedness; Radioactive Waste Management; Transportation; Security and Safeguards; and Management Controls.

i The NRC Region I evaluation board meeting was discussed, including the assessment period, performance data and the results of the board's evaluation.

i The licensee's overall performance was considered acceptable.
Eight areas will receive increased inspection effort by Region I to confirm that corrective actions already initiated are effective. These eight areas of concern were identified to corporate and site management.

Management Conferences Held During Past Twelve Months Management meeting at Licensee Corporate Offices in New York on April 24, 1980 to discuss actions required as a result of physical security inspection findings.

Licensee Activities J. A. Fitzpatrick operated almost continuously at full power with the exception of a refueling and torus modification outage of about 3 months duration between May and August 1980. The resident inspector's office was established on site June 9, 1980.
F.
Inspection Activities During the period, 23 inspections have been completed under the operating reactor program. These included three inspections by Resident Inspectors, the Health Physics Appraisal, three inspections at the Barnwell ' waste burial site, and 16 inspections by the regional office staff.
