The purpose of this letter is to inform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that field work associated with SSER 22 Appendix HH, Open Item 33 (Reference 1) is complete.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 April 7, 2015 The Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Unit 2 response provided in Attachment 9 of Reference 2 listed unverified assumptions pertaining to the 125 Volt DC Vital Battery System Analysis. Cable-related field work associated with the Reciprocating Charging Pump and Turbine Driven Auxiliary Feedwater Pump (AFWP) needed to be completed to resolve the unverified assumptions. The modifications were made by the following design change notices (DCN) .

  • DCN 53421 for the removal/abandonment of Reciprocating Charging Pump 2-MTR-62-1 01 , supplied from 480V SHDN BD 2B 1-B, Com pt. 38.
  • DCN 54636 for the cable modifications for Unit 2 AFWP Turbine Trip and Throttle Valve and Turbine Controls.

These changes are now complete and a commitment completion package (Tracking No. 112145148, IP&S No. 493) has been prepared and is available on site for NRC closure review.

Tennessee Valley Authority actions associated with Open Item 33 contained in Reference 3 are complete.

There are no new regulatory commitments associated with this submittal. If you have any questions, please contact Gordon Arent at (423) 365-2004.
