Revised IPEEE Schedule for Vermont Yankee This letter documents a revised submittal date of December 31,1997 for the Vermont IPEEE as I previously discussed with the Vermont Yankee Project Manager in Reference (d).

Vermont Yankee has completed IPEEE screening evaluations for external floods, high winds, tornados j and transportation accidents cnd has completed the majority of walkdowns for seismic IPEEE '

components. Our IPE analysists have also provided a significant level of support for our implementation of the Maintenance Rule (10CFR50.65). Additionally, our staff has recently completed a maior self assessment of the Appendix R features at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VYNPS), including a complete revision of the Safe Shutdown Capability Analysis (SSCA), Fire Protection Program Plan and implementation of fire protection system anhancements.

The revised date reflects our internal schedule and will afford our IPE analyst the necessary time to complete the remaining internal flood (March 1,1997) fire (June 1,1997) and (core damage frequency calculations (September 1,1997) for the Vermont Yankee IPEEE.

We trust this revised schedule is acceptable. However, should you have any questions, please contact this office.

Sincerely, VERMONTYANKEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION Donald A. Reid Vice President, Operations l
