PPL Susquehanna, Units 2- ACCEPTANCE OF REQUESTED LICENSING ACTION RE: Relief Request RR-07, Extension of Testing Interval for MS SRVs (TAC NO. ME3320)

By letter dated February 8, 2010, you submitted relief requests RR-07, for the NRC approval to extend the test interval beyond 6 years for five Main Steam Relief Valves PSV241F013A, E, J,M, and P (RR-07),

until next refueling outage for Unit 2 in Spring 2011. The purpose of this communication is to provide the results of the NRC staff

=s acceptance review of these relief request.

The acceptance review of the relief request was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant.

The NRC staff in Component Performance & Testing Branch (CPTB) of Division of Component Integrity (DCI) have reviewed your applications and concluded that it does provide technical information in sufficient detail to enable the staff to proceed with its detailed technical review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the proposed amendment in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. If additional information is needed for the staff to complete its technical review, you will be advised by separate correspondence.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
