1.11j"Safeloadpathsshouldbedefinedforthemovementofheavyloadstominimizethepotential forheavyloads,ifdropped,toimpactirradiated fuelinthereactorvesselandinthespentfuelpool,ortoimpactsafeshutdownequipment.

Thepathshouldfollow,totheextentpractical, structural floormembers,beams,etc.,suchthatiftheloadisdropped,thestructure ismorelikelytowithstand theimpact.Theseloadpathsshouldbedefinedinprocedures, shownonequipment layoutdrawings, andclearlymarkedonthefloorintheareawheretheloadistobehandled.Deviations fromdefinedloadpathsshouldrequirewrittenalternative procedures approvedbytheplantsafetyreviewcommittee."

2.Providevisualaidstoassistthecraneoperatorinidentifying safeloadpathsandexclusion areas.~ResenseFPLwillpreparespecificloadpathsformajorloadswhichroutinely takethesamerouteorrouteswhencarried.Thesepathswillbereferenced intheapplicable procedure, andwillbesimilartotheSt.LucieUnit2pathsprovidedwithourletterL-84-327datedNovember9,1984.ThesepathswillbepreparedbyFebruary15,1985.Inaddition, FPLusesanindividual toleadtheheavyloadoverthepathwhenhandlingisrequired.

2.1.3LoadHandlingProcedures

[Guideline 2,NUREG-0612, Section5.1.12"Procedures shouldbedeveloped tocoverloadhandlingoperations forheavyloadsthatareorcouldbehandledoverorinproximity toirradiatedfuelorsafeshutdownequipment.

Ataminimum,procedures shouldcoverhandlingofthoseloadslistedinTable3-1ofNUREG-0612.

Theseprocedures shouldinclude:identification ofrequiredequipment;inspections andacceptance criteriarequiredbeforemovementofload;thestepsandpropersequencetobefollowedinhandlingtheload;definingthesafepath;andotherspecialprecautions."
