Atleastonefunctioning highrangedose-rate instrument shallbeavailable atalltimes.Thisnormallymeanscarryingasuitablespareinstrument.

Theinstruments usedforsurveymaybeeitherGMorIonChambertype.Ifaninstrument withasealedchamber(suchasthePIC-6A)isnotavailable, anRM-16withbulletprobemaybeused.Page1of9Revision0

'Il(I+At~~Alt'tOU)E441l~PMP2081.EPP.027 4.1.4Normally, ifventreleaseconditions areseriousenoughtorequireactivation ofthisprocedure, airbornecondi-tionsintheAuxiliary Buildingwouldrequiretheuseofpressuredemandtypesuppliedairrespirators byallpersonnel involved.5.0ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 5.1Inallcasesinvolving asignificant increaseinairborneacti-vity,licensedControlRoompersonnel shouldconsultPflP2080EPP.001;ECC-19andECC-13todetermine ifanyemergency actionlevels(EAL's)havebeenexceeded.

Uponexceeding anEAL,theproperanergency condition shallbedeclaredandtheEnergency Planactivated byimplementing PMP2080EPP.001.6.0PROCEDURE 6.1Obtainportableccmmunication radiofrcmtheTechnical SupportCenter,ControlRoomoranEmergency Station.Surveydatatakenatthesamplestationshouldbetransmitted totheControlRoomeveryfifteen(15)minutes.)NOTE:Communication canalsobemadetotheTechnical SupportCenterandOperational SupportCenter,ifnecessary ordesired.6.2Obtaincalibrated,

operable, dose-rate readinginstruments.

Thisshouldinclude,ifpossible, anRM-16(2mR/hrto20R/hr)withbulletprobe.IftherangeoftheRM-16isexpectedtobeexceeded, aPIC-6A(1mR/hrto1000R/hr)surveyinstrument fromanemergency stationshouldbeobtainedforuse.6.3Carefully proceedtothe650'levation samplestation.6.4Removetheshieldplugandinsertthedetectorsothatitis6inchesfromthesamplelineinsidetheshield.Forexactpositioning ofinstruments, seeFigure2forPIC-6A,orFigure3forRM-16bulletprobe.6.5IfRM-16withbulletprobeisusedinshield,slideleadplugupagainstbulletproberetainertominimizeradiation shinefromsampleline.6.6Opentheremoteoperatedsamplevalvesandstartthesamplepump(controls arelocatednearthesamplestation).
