Event Description and Probable Consequences (con't) samples for that period of time were LLD. Therefore, the station's Tech. Spec.

of 100 pei/1 in the discharge canal was not exceeded and all discharges to the river were below 10CFR 20 Appendix B limits for general public. Unit operation was not affected by this occurrence. There was no effect on the public health and safety.

Similar previous occurrences were reported by Deviation Reports D-12-2-80-39 and D-12-2-76-91.

Cause Description and Corrective Actions (con't) be trained on the new procedures and this incident during the next six week operator training session starting on March 21, 1983.

The oparator, under direction of the Radwaste Foreman, opened the blowdown valve from the mud drum of 2/3 "A" boiler to the boiler house floor drain system. The foreman and operator vera under the assumption that the floor drains were routed to the *2/3 Radwaste Floor Drain collector. This valve is out of service to prevent blowdown of the boilers to the storm scvar when the boiler water is contaminated.

s Description of Event (con't)

This situation was not recognized by the operator or the Radwaste Foreman involved with the heating boiler flush. At the time "A" heating boiler was blown down to the storm sewer, the radioactivity was 4.6 X 104 pei/1, per the 2/5/83 sample. The "A" boiler blowdown was secured at 0400 hours0.00463 days
0.111 hours
6.613757e-4 weeks
1.522e-4 months
on 2/6/83. Total blowdown was 3/4 of the steam drum sight glass which is approximately 700 gal.
