NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 70-824/89-02 Thank you for your response of June 6,1989, to our Notice of Violation, issued on May 10, 1989, concerning activities conducted at your Naval Nuclear Fuel Division - Research Laboratory. After a detailed review of the reasons for your denial and the resulting corrective steps which were taken, we are withdrawing Violation A for failure to perform n.onthiy inspections of portable fire extinguishers. Regarding Violation B, we acknowledge the documentation as provided for fourth quarter 1988 training. However, the violation did occur for the first quarter of 1989. We will examine the implementation of your corrective actions during future inspections.
