Under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act,5 U.S.C. 552. I Mount Athos#g access to documents pertaining to Babcock & Wilcox Co.'
am requestin
. anis _in Campbell County, Va., near Lynchburg.
They are B&W's Lynchburg Research Center and Naval Nuclear Fuel Division.
Specifically, I would like the following:
1.) A copy of the report that led to B&W being fined $2,500 in 1985 for violations of the NRC radiation protection requirements. The fine was the result of a special safety inspection conducted on Dec.18-19,1984. An employee suffered an overexposure to his ri ht hand while preparing samples of spent reactor fuel for ana sis.
2.) Copies of any reports i the past 10 years, since 1978, that have led to B&W being charged with violations of NRC 3.)gulations. Documents or letters which show the fine imposed as the re result of the violation.
Please supply the records without informing me if the fees do no exceed
$75.As you know. the Act permits you to reduce or waive the fees when the release of the information is considered as "primarily benefiting the 3ublic." I believe that this request fits that category and therefore ask 1 hat you waive any fees.
If any part of this request is denied, please cite the specific exemption which you think justifies your refusal to release the information and inform me of your agency's administrative appeal procedures available to me under the law.
I would appreciate your handling this request as quickly as possible, and I would look forward to hearing from you within 10 working days, as the law stipulates.
