NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 70-824/92-02 3-Thank you for your responses of July 23 and Hovember 5,1992, to our Notice of

Violation and our subsequent request for supplemental information dated May 29 i and October 22, 1992, respectively, concerning activities conducted at your Babcock and Wilcox Research facility. We have evaluated your responses and found that they meet the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201.

f j In our letter of October 22, 1992, in response to your initial reply of July 23,1992, denying the violation, we stated that additional corrective actions should include steps to ensure that other vendor-supplied procedures that deal with licensed nuclear material receive the appropriate review and

approval. Your response of November 5,1992, narrowly addresses the specific violation cited and does not address the broader issue of review of vendor-supplied procedures. In that regard, you are encouraged to address your '

general program for review of vendor procedures.

tion of your corrective actions during future inspections.
