PART 50, APPENDIX J. REQUIREMENTS (TAC NO. M99841)

Dear Mr. Carns:

The Comission has issued the enclosed scheduler exemption from Type B and C testing requirements of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix J for the Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No, I (MNPSI), in response to Northeast Nuclear Energy Company's letter dated October 16,1997. Specifically, the exemption permits a one-time extension of the test period for the Type B and Type C tests until containment integrity is required for startup from the current refueling outage.

A copy of the Exemption is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register-for publication.
