% November 6, 1984 Docket No. 50-382 MEMORANDUM FOR: Waterford 3 Task Force Leaders FROM:'

Dennis M. Crutchfield, Assistant Director for Safety Assessment Division of Li. censing

SUBJECT:

SSER 9 INPUT

- " ~ For several weeks now you and your team members have been on the Waterford site reviewing the applicant's responses to the twenty-three areas of concern as stated in Mr, Eisenhut's letter of June 13, 1984. Those items for which you have completed your follow up review shall now be fomally documented. .

, In order to reach a licensing decision by mid-month you should provide your evaluation of your issues by November 13, 1984. Your input for these issues ,

should by formated as one writeup per item, however it is important to discuss within your writeup each "A" number from SSER #7 whose " Actions Required" referenced the item in the Eisenhut letter. Nonnally in an SSER a line or two describing the concern raised in a previous report is all.that

is needed as background information for the reader. However, because of the visibility of this next SSER a great deal more background should be included l in your write up. SSER #9 should stand on it,s own as much as possible. l l

4 In addition to the twenty-three areas, you have also been reviewing the few ,

l allegations that remained from SSER #7, as well as new allegations and l

.~

concerns brought to the Task Force's attention since the issuance of the report. These must also be included in the next SSER and your written input, in the same format as SSER #7, should be in my office by November 13, 1984.

If you have any resource problems meeting this date please inform me immediately. , ,
