/LLINDIS POWER COMPANY CLINTON POWER STATION. P.o. BOX 678, CLINTON, ILLINOIS 61727 April 30, 1984 Docket No. 50-461 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief Licensing Branch No. 2 Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Subject:

Clinton Power Station Unit 1 Seismic Qualification of Equipment

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

As referenced in the Clinton SSER 2, at- .;hment 1 is submitted and constitutes a summary update to information previously forwarded by the Illinois Power letter dated July 20, 19.83 (refer U-0653). Specific details concerning seismic qualification status for each piece of equipn.cnt are available in preliminary form, and will be provided upon request.

Of the 9,446 pieces of equipment which require seismic qualification, 4356 are qualified and 901 are installed. Expressed as a percentage, these numbers translate into approximately 46% and 9.5% respectively.

Current schedule projections based on documentation received indicate achievement of the 85% equipment qualified rate on or before May 1985.

Substantial improvement in the installation complete status is anticipated in the near term based on cable pulling and terminations which will complete many equipment installations. Illinois Power anticipates achievement of 85% qualified and installed criteria and preparedness for an NRC SQRT audit by July,1985.

Should you have any questions concerning this submittal, please contact me or M. E. D' Haem (217) 935-8881 Ext. 303.
