I. INTRODUCTION Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station is composed of two Boiling Water Reactors and Steam Turbine/Generators located in Delta, Pennsylvania. Unit Two and Unit Three both have a Maximum Dependable Capacity of 1112 MWe Net. The Station is jointly owned by Exelon Nuclear and Public Service Electric and Gas. The Nuclear Steam Supply Systems are General Electric Company Boiling Water Reactors. The Architect/Engineer and Primary Construction Contractor was Bechtel Corporation. The Susquehanna River is the condenser cooling water source. The plant is subject to license numbers DPR-44 and DPR-56, issued October 25, 1973, and July 2, 1974, for Unit Two and Unit Three respectively, pursuant to Docket Numbers 50-277 and 50-278. The dates of initial Reactor criticality for Units Two and Three were September 16, 1973, and August 7, 1974, respectively. Commercial generation of power began on February 18, 1974, for Unit Two, and September 1, 1974, for Unit Three.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE A. Unit TWO Unit 2 began the month of May at 100% of maximum allowable power (3496 MWth).

At 2300 on May 2 3 rd, Unit 2 reduced power to 92%, for planned turbine stop valve and intercept valve testing. The Unit returned to maximum allowable power by 0228 on May 24'h.

Unit 2 ended the month of May at 100% of maximum allowable power (3496 MWth).

B. Unit THREE Unit 3 began the month of May at 100% of maximum allowable power (3514 MWth).

At 2207 on May 14th, Unit 3 reduced power to 52%, for a planned summer readiness load drop, in which condenser waterboxes were cleaned, among other miscellaneous activities. The Unit returned to maximum allowable power by 0838 on May 16th*

At 0233 on May 17 th, Unit 3 reduced power to 89%, for a planned follow-up rod pattern adjustment. The Unit returned to maximum allowable power by 0511 on May 17 th.

At 0427 on May 18 th, Unit 3 reduced power to 96%, due to a control rod hydraulic control unit air leak. Control rod 14-47 was inserted, and other rods were adjusted to get the Unit back to maximum allowable power by 0804 on May 18th*

At 0023 on May 2 0 th, Unit 3 reduced power to 86% in order to repair and test the air leak on the control rod hydraulic control unit. Rod 14-47 was withdrawn to its previous position, and following the adjustment of other rods, the Unit returned to maximum allowable power by 0443 on May 2 0 th.

Unit 3 ended the month of May at 100% of maximum allowable power (3514 MWth).
