6 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Bill, it's Wayne 7 Lanning. Are you there?
8 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Yes, Wayne. This 9 Bill. I'd just like to provide an update to you.
10 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Go ahead.
11 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): We approximately 12 10 minutes ago, 15 minutes ago Unit 3 secured two of 13 four reactor coolant pumps and we've begun a plant 14 cool-down. We're right now going to cool-down at 15 approximately 60 to 70 degrees per hour, so we 16 anticipate, as I told you before, about three hours to 17 get down to hot shutdown. At 16:00 we're going to 18 evaluate the cool-down, make sure that we're going to 19 meet all of our action requirements, and at that point 20 we'll evaluate the termination criteria. The question 21 is, if we decide to terminate, do you desire a phone 22 call prior to that?
23 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Yes, sir. I 24 would appreciate that phone call before you exit the 25 alert.

30 1 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): I understand.
2 You would like a phone call prior to termination.
3 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Yes.
4 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Okay. I also 5 want- to provide an update on sampling the steam 6 generators. We had the initial sample on three of the 7 four steam generators. One of the samples, the flow 8 rate was very low on, so that's why we wanted to go 9 back and redo it. The Delta steam generator is 10 isolated by a tech spec action statement, so we can't 11 use the normal sample line, so what we're in the 12 process of doing is getting the steam generator blow-13 down back in service, and then get the sample off of 14 that. However, the terry turbine which is running has 15 a RAD monitor that's right now three to four steam 16 generators are supplying steam to that, and it's 17 showing no indication. And the three generators that 18 it supplies are the Alpha, Bravo, and Delta. So we do 19 have the Delta going through a RAD monitor and it's 20 detecting no indication of any activity.
21 IMR. LANNING (phonetic): Bill, help me 22 understand. Isn't there an alternate sample path 23 that's available or not from D?

31 1 alternate sample line, but that alternate sample line 2 is isolated because of the main steamline isolation.
3 It's in the turbine building, so it's not seeing the 4 steam. So right now we can also off of the blow-down 5 get an alignment with the core that we're working our 6 way through getting that in service, and getting that 7 ability to get a sample off of that. And chemistry 8 and one of my operations supervisor are working to get 9 that done.
10 MR. LANNING (phonetic) And, Bill, is 11 that a wide range or narrow range RAD monitor going to 12 the turbine building steam?
13 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): It would be like 14 a main steamline RAD monitor, you know, one of those 15 type of detectors right off a steamline. It would be 16 very similar to that, so relatively. You know if you 17 had with our faulty steam generator, we've used for 18 detection is a RAD monitor of that type. Normally the 19 three would be the air ejectors, the blow-downs, and 20 then the main steamline, so this is concurrent with a 21 main steamline RAD monitor.
22 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay. And this 23 is something like the N16 monitor?
24 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): It's not an N16.

2 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): No, we have both 3 a main steamline RAD monitor -- hold on one second.
4 Yes, it's pretty high-sensitive. Yes, we have an N16 5 that's on the line, but we also have a main steamline 6 RAD monitor. The N16 was a backfit maybe four years 7 ago on Unit 3.
8 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay. So make 9 sure I understand, you do have the N16 on the turbine-10 driven steamline?
11 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Can you say that 12 again? We do not have an N16 on the terry turbine 13 line.
14 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay.
15 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Wayne, to put it 16 in explanation, it would be like you would have an 17 area RAD monitor that's posted right on the steamline, 18 or right on the terry turbine line.
19 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay.
20 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): It's the kind of 21 a monitor. So any activity passing by it would be 22 sensitive to.
23 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Well, I gather 24 it's the gross gamma monitor.
25 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Gross gamma.

2 MR. LANNING (phonetic): All right. Are 3 you planning to sample main steamlines?
4 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Well, we're 5 planning on -- you mean the steam generators?
6 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Yes.
7 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Yes, what we're 8 planning on is getting blow-down on service from each 9 steam generator, and then get a sample off the blow-10 down line.
11 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay.
12 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Now Bravo and 13 Charlie, we have the normal sample, so this would be 14 for Alpha and Delta.
15 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay. And I 16 understand you're no longer steaming on Delta. Is 17 that correct?
18 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): We are no longer 19 steaming on Delta. We have stopped the Delta reactor 20 coolant pump, so we're only running Alpha and Bravo 21 reactor coolant pumps, so most of the steam will, in 22 fact, come from Alpha and Bravo, because that's the 23 one you've got the more forced circulation on.

34 1 say we can't steam from all four, just because of the 2 flow *(01:04:16) more of the flow.
3 MR. LANNING (phonetic): All right. Now 4 is it the A loop that is questionable, or has reduced 5 flow?
6 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): The Alpha loop 7 had slightly less flow, but the samples came back 8 negative on that.
9 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay. So you 10 have confidence in those samples.
11 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Excuse me?
12 MR. LANNING (phonetic): You have 13 confidence in those samples for the A loop.
14 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Well, we have not 15 only the samples, we have -- that also flows through 16 the terry turbine, so no indication on that. We have 17 no unplanned or unexpected level rise, no unexplained 18 decrease in RCS inventory, so we have a lot of backups 19 to indicate no primary to secondary leakage.
20 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Okay. All right.
21 I think I understand that. Thank you.

23 MR. LANNING (phonetic): Do you have any 24 update on initiating cause for the event?

35 1 still have an ERT that is forming up on that. In 2 fact, when I get off, I'm going to give the individual 3 coordinating that a call.
4 MR. LANNING (phonetic): All right.
5 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): But as of now, 6 nothing positive at all.
7 MR. LANNING (phonetic): What about media 8 inquiries, have you -- do you know to what extent 9 you've received inquiries from print or TV?
10 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): Yes, only -- I 11 know Channel 3, which is CBS, went up to Hartford and 12 then they planned on shifting the call down to our 13 simulator center, but I don't know if that's happened 14 or what the status of that is. We have some corporate 15 communications people coming up to engage the media.
16 But as far as I know, we've only had the one CBS 17 that's been to Hartford.
18 MR. LANNING (phonetic): All right. Do 19 you know if you've issued another press release or 20 not?
21 MR. HOFFNER (phonetic): I know we are in 22 the process of reviewing it, so either it's going out 23 or will shortly go out.
