SUBJECT:

BEAVER VALLEY POWER STATION - NRC SUPPLEMENTAL INSPECTION REPORT 05000334/2013406 AND 05000412/2013406

Dear Mr. Larson:

On May 31, 2013, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) completed a supplemental inspection at your Beaver Valley Power Station, Units 1 and 2. The enclosed inspection report documents the inspection results, which were discussed on May 31, 2013, with you and other members of your staff.

In accordance with the NRC Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix, this supplemental inspection was performed to follow-up on a performance issue which occurred in the third quarter of 2012. This issue was previously documented and assessed in NRC Baseline Inspection Report 05000334/2012404 and 05000412/2012404 and Final Significance Determination Report 05000334/2012405 and 05000412/2013405. The NRC was informed on April 19, 2013, of your staffs readiness for this inspection.

The objectives of this supplemental inspection were to provide assurance that: (1) the root causes and the contributing causes for the significant issues were understood; (2) the extent of condition and extent of cause of the issues were identified; and (3) corrective actions were or will be sufficient to address and preclude repetition of the root and contributing causes. The inspection consisted of examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to security and compliance with the Commissions rules and regulations and with the conditions of your licenses.

No findings were identified during this inspection.
