Dear Sir:

On September 8, 1998, the Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) requested a change to the Nuclear Business Unit (NBU) Emergency Plan for the Hope Creek and Salem Generating Stations. In a telephone call on April 1, 1999, NRG requested a clarification in Section 4.0 - Emergency Response Support and Resource, Subsection 2.0 - State and County (Local) Government Response.

Attached are drafts. of proposed changes to pages 4.1 and 4.2 of the Emergency Plan.

The changes are contained on page 4.2 and are noted in italics and underline and address the NRG questions regarding contact of the counties if the states cannot be contacted. PSE&G also reviewed the original request from the State of New Jersey and confirmed that the above noted change is consistent with their request and no further change is required.
