OF PUBLIC MEETING
On April 30, 2013, at 5:30 pm, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public meeting/open-house at the Brattleboro High School in Brattleboro, VT. The NRC conducted the open house and question and answer portion to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station for 2012.
A notice of the public meeting/open-house was issued on April 8, 2013, and was posted on the NRC's external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML13098A097. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at:
http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC presented poster boards, fact sheets, reading material and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Vermont Yankee for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2012, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML13059A285). The NRC poster boards, fact sheets, and reading material included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Vermont Yankee can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html. Members of the public, local officials, State officials, and members of the media attended the public meeting/open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Vermont Yankee's performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
