OF THE APRIL 5, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THEFERMI 2 END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENTOn April 5, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at theMonroe County Board of Commissioners' Chambers in Monroe, Michigan. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Detroit Edison Company (DECo) management todiscuss the NRC's assessment of Fermi 2's safety performance for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2006. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML070800273 and ML070940510, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC's Reactor Oversight Program (ROP),national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRC's assessment of Fermi 2's performance in calendar year 2006, which was documented in the March 2, 2007, end-of-cycle assessment letter. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, DECo briefly responded to the NRC's assessment. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and DECo representatives./RA/Christine A.
