ISO! Bi trift, Pvwu 110r11 Chairman Gregory B. Jaczko U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Mail Stop 0-16G4 Washington, DC 20555-0001 May 26, 2011

Dear Chairman Jaczko:

On June 2, 2011, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will conduct an annual assessment meeting for Indian Point Energy Center. Several constituents who have participated in previous assessments have expressed concerns that the NRC provided vague evaluations of

.Indian Point's record of performance, and that after presenting their own internal reviews, Entergy representatives have left the meeting without hearing from residents or responding to their concerns. In addition, the constituents say that the NRC does not provide adequate time to address their concerns at these meetings.

I am deeply troubled that concerns raise(] by local residents and responses from Entergy and the NRC are not entered into the record nor are they made available to the public. The NRC should provide ample time for public comment, include comments .in the public record, and require that Entergy represenlatives stay for the duration of the program.

As the NRC prepares for the June 2 annual assessment meeting, I respectfully request that the NRC take these steps in the spirit of transparency and reserve time at the beginning of the program to ensure the concerns of our citizens are heard.

Thank you for working with me to ensure the health and safety of New Yorkers.

Sincerely, Niti M. Lowey

,/ Member of Congress
