SUBJECT:

MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - PUBLIC MEETING CATEGORY 1 REGULATORY CONFERENCE - OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-269, 50-270, AND 50-287

Dear Mr. Baxter:

This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Graham Davenport of your staff and Mr. James Moorman, III, on December 1, 2008, concerning a Regulatory Conference, being conducted at your request, which has been scheduled for January 22, 2009, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (EST). The meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed. The purpose of the Regulatory Conference is to discuss the risk significance of the inspection finding documented in Inspection Report 05000269,270,287/2008010. This finding concerns the apparent failure to implement an adequate automatic voltage regulator maintenance procedure, which resulted in a loss of Unit 1 reactor coolant system inventory while on decay heat removal.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).

Should you have any questions concerning this meeting, please contact me at (404) 562-4511.

Sincerely, /RA/
