OF MARCH 18, 2008, MEETING WITH PPL SUSQUEHANNA, ON SUBMISSION DETAILS FOR SUSQUEHANNA UNITS 1 AND 2, POST- EXTENDED POWER UPRATE (EPU) POWER ASCENSION (TAC NO. MD8079)
On March 18, 2008, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of PPL Susquehanna (PPL) to discuss PPL's plan for complying with the extended power uprate (EPU) Steam Dryer License Conditions. A list of attendees is enclosed.
The licensee's presentation included Proprietary Information (See Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML080810346 for Proprietary version and ADAMS Accession No. ML080810339 for Non-Proprietary version).
The licensee provided details regarding the new steam dryer design features, locations, and types of instrumentation to be used, additional analyses needed to reflect the new dryer as-built configuration, and the format and logistics for data submission during the power ascension phase. The licensee also discussed an ongoing steam dryer modification to correct the interference issue they recently encountered with the new Unit 1 Steam Dryer.
With the verbal consent of the owners of the Proprietary Information, PPL, and General Electric - Hitachi, the members of the public were in attendance throughout the meeting. Public Meeting Feedback forms were not received.
