During the 588th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS or the Committee) on November 3, 2011, ACRS completed its review of the extended power uprate application for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No. 2 (NMP2), and the associated safety evaluation report prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff. In a letter to Chairman Gregory B. Jaczko, dated November 10, 2011 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML11314A022), the Committee provided its final report on the extended power uprate for NMP2. The NRC staff agrees with your recommendation that the agency should approve the extended power uprate for NMP2. The NRC staff appreciates the Committee's prompt and very thorough review of this extended power uprate application and the associated safety evaluation report.
