NMP2 EPU Spent Fuel Criticality

Theresa, As we discussed, the tech staff continues to review your latest RAI letter dated July 30, 2010, related to the Spent Fuel Criticality subject area. I plan to send you additional RAIs in the next couple of weeks; however, at this point, I wanted to get some clarification (see below questions) related to the NMP2 licensing basis for fuel storage criticality. An email response is fine; and if needed, we can have a phonecall the week of 9/13 to discuss for further clarification.
1) What was the last criticality analysis that was submitted to the NRC staff for review and approval? NMP2 has never submitted a criticality analysis
2) Based on the RAI response, I understand that the Holtec analysis referenced in NMP2 USAR Section 9.1 is the analysis of record and will continue to be so after EPU implementation. Yes
3) Was this Holtec analysis approved by the NRC staff? No it was completed under 5059 process no change to Technical Specifications
Thanks, Rich Guzman Sr. Project Manager NRR/DORL US NRC 301-415-1030 Richard.Guzman@nrc.gov
