Clarification of NMP2 EPU LAR applicability of GEH Methods

John, Our tech reviewer doing the fuels methods review requests clarification on the two items regarding the PUSAR, specifically in the area of the disposition of the conditions and limitations from the staff's SE for NEDC-33173P "Applicability of GE Methods to Expanded Operating Domains."

The two items are relatively minor and may not necessitate an RAI, but clarification would be helpful in making that determination.

(1) Clarification of the use of TRACG04 for stability. We assume this refers to the use of TRACG04 to calculate the DIVOM slope and is aware that many licensees have used the 50.59 process to migrate from TRACG02 to TRACG04 for this purpose. We would like to understand the basis for the 50.59 change.

(2) Disposition of Condition 9.20 in the PUSAR Appendix A. We agree that the condition is not applicable to the NMP2 EPU LAR; however, we'd like to get clarification on the stated basis in the Appendix A table.

Please let me know when you can support a phonecall for next week. Doug Pickett will be my backup to facilitate that call. I will be responding to my emails, as needed, in the evening.

Also, I intend to send you a draft RAI during the week of 9/28 covering 5 to 7 technical review branch/areas for the NMP2 EPU review. I'd like to shoot for a conference call sometime later that week, or first week of October to discuss the questions followed by formal RAI issuance.
