Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 2 Docket No. 50-412, License No. NPF-73 Pressurizer Weld Overlay Examination Report By letter dated March 31, 2006 (L-06-038) and supplemented by letters dated August 8, 2006 (L-06-123), September 27, 2006 (L-06-142), and October 5, 2006 (L-06-146), the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) requested Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)approval of a proposed alternative to American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code Section XI requirements, in support of weld overlay repairs for Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS) Unit No. 2 pressurizer nozzles. The NRC provided verbal authorization to perform the weld overlay repairs during a teleconference on October 5, 2006.During the Beaver Valley Unit No. 2 2R12 Refueling Outage, FENOC completed the planned pressurizer structural weld overlay workscope, which included the application of full structural weld overlays to the pressurizer spray nozzle, relief (PORV) nozzle, three safety nozzles, and.,surge nozzle. The final weld overlay ultrasonic examinations were completed on November 6, 2006.Attachment 1, "Indications for Beaver Valley Unit 2 Pressurizer Weld Overlays", provides detailed results of the initial ultrasonic inspections performed on the pressurizer nozzles. The initial inspection results for locations that were subsequently repaired are noted as "Pre-Repair".
