UNITS 1 AND 2 SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In our letter of August 5, 1981 on this subject, we informed you that the six month response to your letter of December 22, 1980 concerning control of heavy loads will be provided by October 30, 1981. Unfortunately, we find selves unable to supply the requested information at this time, and therefore we propose to provide the six month sponse by December 18, 1981. At that time, we will also vise you of the revised submittal date for the nine month response to your letter. The extra time required to prepare the six month response is due to limited manpower resources and the large number of overhead handling systems (70 in all) which require ication, document retrieval, review, evaluation, and ing. This in turn, has necessitated significant manhour penditures on the part-of our consultant to perform the tivities requested in NUREG-0612, and for PSE&G to review and act upon the consultants findings.

CONTROL OF HEAVY LOADS (NUREG-0612)

UNITS 1 AND 2 SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In our letter of August 5, 1981 on this subject, we informed you that the six month response to your letter of December 22, 1980 concerning control of heavy loads will be provided by October 30, 1981. Unfortunately, we find our-selves unable to supply the requested information at this time, and therefore we propose to provide the six month re-sponse by December 18, 1981. At that time, we will also ad-vise you of the revised submittal date for the nine month response to your letter.

The extra time required to prepare the six month response is due to limited manpower resources and the large number of overhead handling systems (70 in all) which require identif-ication, document retrieval, review, evaluation, and report-ing. This in turn, has necessitated significant manhour ex-penditures on the part-of our consultant to perform the ac-tivities requested in NUREG-0612, and for PSE&G to review and act upon the consultants findings.

We would like to emphasize that PSE&G recognizes the con-cerns expressed in NUREG-0612, and will continue to address these concerns in a timely manner.
