Philadelphia Electric Company (PECo) is the licensee for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Unit 1 (Possession-only license), PBAPS Units 2 and 3, and Limerick Generating Station

( LGS), Uni ts 1 and 2. ;: PE Co is a 1 so a co-1 icensee for the Sal em Generating Station (SGS), Units 1 and 2.

10 CFR 50.33(k)(2) applies to PBAPS Units 1, 2, and 3, SGS Units 1 and 2, and LGS Unit 1 since these plants were licensed prior to June 27, 1988, the effective date of this regulation.

pocument Control Desk July 26 1 1990 Page 2 In the case of LGS Un1t 21 which received an operating license on June 22, 1989, 10 CFR 50.33 (k)(l) required that information in the form of a report, as described in 10 CFR 50.75 1 indicat1ng how reasonable assurance will be provided that funds will be available to decOD1Dission the facility, be included in the application for an operating license. Our letter dated February 7, 1989, requested a schedular exemption from 10 CFR 50.33(k)(l) to extend the required time for submittal of a financial assurance report until July 26, 1990. This exemption was granted by the NRC as documented in the LGS Unit 2 Facility Operating License NPF-83, paragraph 2.0, issued on June 22, 1989.

Accordingly, the following attachments provide the required deco11111issioning reports, each containing a certification that financial assurance for decOD1Dissioning will be provided in an amount not less than the amount stated in the Table in 10 CFR 50.75(c)(l), except PBAPS Unit 1.

In the case of PBAPS Unit 1, which has been maintained in shutdown status since October 1974, the attached deco11111issioning report provides information and certification concerning financial assurance for deco11111issioning that is in general agreement with the applicable guidance in Regulatory Positions C.l and C.2.8 of the initial revjsion of Regulatory Guide 1.159, 0Assuring the Availability of Funds For Deco11111issioning Nuclear Reactors. 0 : Deco11111issioning Report for PBAPS Unit 1. : Decomissioning Report *for PBAPS Units 2 and 3.- :
