SUMMARY

OF MARCH 29, 2007 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITHFPL ENERGY SEABROOKOn March 29, 2007, at 6:30 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Inn ofHampton, Hampton, NH, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and FPL Energy Seabrook, LLC (Seabrook). The NRC requested the meeting with Seabrook management to discuss the NRC's assessment of the safety performance of the Seabrook nuclear power plant for calendar year 2006.The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of SeabrookUnit 1 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2006. The NRC presentation included a discussion of the Reactor Oversight Process, general background on the plant, 2006performance assessment results, and an overview of calendar year 2007 planned inspections.

As part of this annual assessment meeting, Seabrook presented an overview of their initiatives in the areas of human performance and engineering. The public observed this meeting and was offered the opportunity to communicate with theNRC regarding Seabrook's performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and Seabrook, the NRC answered questions from the public which included the status of dissimilar metal pressurizer weld inspections, security issues that occurred during 2005, use and distribution of potassium iodide tablets, and some additional detail on selected 2006 NRC findings.
