UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION I 2100 RENAISSANCE BLVD., SUITE 100 KING OF PRUSSIA, PA 19406-2713 July 7, 2015 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Public Meeting Summary LICENSEE: NextEra Energy, Seabrook, LLC FACILITY: Seabrook Station Unit 1 MEETING IDENTIFIER: 20150909 / Region I MN 15-011 On June 18, 2015, the NRC conducted an open house beginning at 6:00 p.m. where members of the public met informally with NRC staff and asked questions related to Seabrook performance, license renewal, and concrete structures monitoring. The public meeting ran from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Ten NRC staff members were present. The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Richard Barkley, an NRC in-house facilitator.

The meeting began with an introduction of NRC staff, followed by short presentations on the performance of the facility and recent progress on the issue involving alkali-silica reaction (ASR) in the concrete of safety-related structures at Seabrook as well as license renewal. Almost all of the meeting was dedicated to answering questions from the public, principally on the ASR issue.

Approximately 40 people participated in the meeting. Six participants asked questions, several coming to the microphone more than once to ask follow-on questions. In addition to members of the public, meeting participants included representatives of the offices of two Congressional members as well as the emergency planning offices in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
