Re: St. Lucie Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-335, 50-389 Com li ance with Generic Letter 82-16 We have reviewed your letter dated January 30, 1984 which provided the staff's review of FPL's conformance with the guidance of Generic Letter 82-16 (NUREG 0797 Technical Speci fications).

We will submit a request to revise the St. Lucie 1 Technical Specifications to provide requirements for overtime limits and reporting of relief valve and safety valve failures and challenges as requested in your letter. These changes will use the St. Lucie Unit 2 format to increase the consistency of the two units. We expect to include these revisions as part of an anendment request which is nbw being prepared to address the recent changes to reportable event requirements as provided by Generic Letter 83-43. We expect these changes to be submitted by May 15, 1984.

As stated in the contractor's evaluation provided with your letter, FPL has not received an NRC review of our previously submitted positions on containment purge operation and surveillance requirements. We are not prepared to address technical specifications for this system until these items are resolved. Our positions were provided in our letter L-82-317, dated July 30, 1982.
