COMMENTS ON AlA.ENDMENT 33 FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-70 NO. 1 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-272 As discussed with Mr. William Ross, this letter will serve to note some minor editorial errors and provide clarification related to the procedural steps which are set forth on page 3 of the safety evaluation supplement in support of Amendment 33 to Facility Operating License DPR-70 issued on February 2, 1981.

The improvements reflect a continuing effort to optimize the installation procedure, based on industry experience to improve efficiency of the operation,a.~d to implement the Commission's re-quirements regarding ALARA.

With regard to Item 1, Line 2, "north-last" should be "north-east".

With regard to Item 2, initially, eight low density racks will be removed instead of six. The racks will be cut up either under-water in the transfer pool or in a screened off area.
