SUBJECT:

FIRE IN TEMPORARY TOOL STORAGE TRAILER j

At 13:27 (PST) on December 10, 1987, the licensee declared an Unusual Event after requesting assistance of the California Department of Forestry (CDF) with a fire in a temporary tool storage trailer. The trailer was located inside the protected area in the vicinity of the Unit 2 main generator transformers. The licensee's fire brigade put out the fire by 13:35 (PST) and the Unusual Event was terminated at 13:57 (PST) when it was determined there was no possibility of a reflash.

The initial determination is that the fire was caused by a 120 volt junction box, possibly overloaded by a portable space heater. The fire burned portions of office equipment and the trailer wall .

Assistance of CDF was not required to put out the fire; however, the licensee requested assistance in its investigation.

At no time did the fire jeopardize plant equipment.
