SMALL EARTHQUAKE NEAR DIABLO CANYON At epproximately 4:33 a.m. on December 7, 1986, a plant seismic monitor detected ground motion. The ground motion was not of sufficient magnitude to trigger the Technical Sp:cification required ronitoring system, but did trigger the more sensitive supplemental cairmic monitoring system. The University of California, Berkeley, Seismology Laboratory indicated that the ground motion was due to a 2.9 Richter Scale earthquake with epicenter sbout 18 miles northwest of San Luis Obispo and 7 miles west of Morro Bay. The ground sec21eration measured at the site was 0.0012 g. The earthquake was not felt at the site.
