THIRD STOP-WORK ORDER CONCERNING HVAC CONTRACTOR AT CLINTON Bsidwin & Associates, the Clinton constructor, has issued a stop-work order against tha Zack Company, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) contractor.
Tha stop-work was effective at 8 a.m. August 3, 1982 and involves all non-safety related HVAC work performed in the plant's Category 1 seismic structures. This includes the following buildings: fuel, control, containment, auxiliary, diesel gtnerator and screen house.
The work was stopped, Baldsin said, because of inadequate controls by Zack over non-safety related work. This is the third stop work effecting Zack since June 28, 1982 (Sse PN0 III 82-58A).The other two stop- work orders are still in effect and pertain to seismic hanger support welds (first attachment) and "all safety-related work."
Neither Region III (Chicago) nor the licensee plans to issue a press release at this time. Region III will respond to inquiries. Some media interest is expected.
The State of Illinois will be notified.
