4 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION August 28, 1978 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT-- PNS-78-41 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance. The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
Facility: Clinton, Unit No. 1 Illinois Power Company (DN S0-461) Clinton, Illinois Subiect: B0MB THREAT 4
The licensee notified RIII that a bomb threat was received at the Clinton site at 9:07 a.m. on August 27, 1978. The caller stated: "You have a bomb planted in the power block, so long suckers." The licensee initiated a search of the site and found nothing.
The facility is under construction and is approximately 33% complete.
There is no fuel on site.
The Springfield Illinois office of the FBI was notified as were the Illinois State Police and the DeWitt County Sheriff's Department.
The State Police and County Sheriff's Department did respond but did not participate in the search.
