At 6:10 p.m. on 12/21, the reactor tripped due to a loss of load. All plant equipment operated as designed except for one steam dump valve which stuck open and had to be shut manually. The loss of load condition was initiated by the opening of the generator output breaker schich opened due to a ground fault on the permanent magnet generator (PMG) stator winding. (The PMG provides control power for the output breaker.)
The licensee is performing limited corrective maintenance while procuring a replacement PMG. Estimated time of return to power is 12/25 contingent upon receipt of replacement PMG.
