DCS: 50-317/318/860218 Date: February 18, 1987 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--PNS-87-02 This preliminary notification contains information of nuclear power plant physical security and/or public interest significance and has been confirmed by the licensee.

B0MB THREATS On February 18, 1987, at 11:46 a.m., a control room operator received a telephone bomb threat stating "there is a bomb on the second floor of the OTF".
The OTF is an office and training facility that is outside of the plant protected area, but is within the owner controlled area. At 11:56 a.m. the same threat message was received by an individual who answered a call to a pay phone located on the first floor of the OTF.
Site security was notified and search procedures were immediately implemented. Nothing suspicious was found. The Maryland State Police were notified and responded to the site.
The resident inspector was promptly informed by the licensee and he and a region-based inspector who was on site followed the licensee's actions.
The NRC Information Assessment Team and the State of Maryland have been notified.
