REQUEST FROM LOUISIANA FOR MEETING WITH NRC ON GE REED REPORT On Friday, August 7,1987, Gary Sanborn, NRC Region IV State Liaison Officer received a telephone request from Martha Madden, Secretary of the Department of Enviror. mental Quality, Louisiana, for a meeting with NRC officials on the subject report. The purpose of the meeting is to get a message to the public to allay their fears as a result of the negative publicity surrounding the GE

- Reed Report.

Ms. Madden would like to arrange a meeting in Baton Rouge as soon as possible, hopefully this week, but at the latest by August 17. Meeting attendees would include representatives from the State of Louisiana, the Public Service Comission, Gulf States Utilities (Riverbend 1), Mr. Sanborn and other Region IV personnel. A press conference would follow the meeting.

Mr. Sanborn should be contacted directly by the selected NRR staff person (s) today if possible. He can be reached on FTS 728-8267.
