dated September 10, 1986 (G-86494)
Dear Mr. Berkow:
The NRC site inspection of the Environmental Qualification (EQ)
Program for Fort St. Vrain was completed on January 30, 1987.
The verbal feedback received from tha NRC Inspection Team during the exit meeting indicated that Public Service Company's (PSC's)
EQ Program utilized to environmentally qualify equipment as well as the program in place for maintaining.the qualification met the requirements of 10CFR50.49.
Certain open items were identified tc the NRC at that time which Public Service Company (PSC) was in t,% process of completing.
From the inspection, certain additiond items were identified that required action by PSC. This letter. is written to apprise you cf the present status and plans regarding completion of the EQ Progran,

been -identified and the environmental qualification is nearing completion.
The program and implementing procedures are in place to assure that equipment qualification is maintained for the life of the plant and that the associated documentation is maintained up to date and in an auditable form.
Status Attachments for the remaining open items are provided in tabular format. The projected completion date for the final item to finish in each category is also shown.
All items have been planned and scheduled and are being tracked along with our other outage activities.
Status of Action Items Identified at NRC EQ Inspection Exit.
Status of Miscellaneous Open Items and Confirmatory Reviews Status of Physical Work and Testing Activities In addition, Reference 1 required the resolution of the Fort St.
Vrain Environmental Qualification Profiles and the approval of the Technical Specifications associated with the Steam Line Rupture
\\
Detection / Isolation System. These items have been submitted to the
[
NRC Staff and are in the final stages of review.
As a confirmatory action prior to startup, PSC will issue a letter certifying the closeout of those items delineated in Reference 1.
c-Any exceptions which could arise from unforeseen delays in the resolution of the environmental profiles, in the SLRDIS Technical
. Specification or in final closure of our confirmatory reviews would be identified at that time. Resolution of such exceptions would then be ' pursued with the NRC Staff under the provisions of 10CFR50.49 If have any questions or comments, please call Mr. M. H. Holmes at (you303)480-6960.
