10CFR50.49 Environmental Qualification of Safety Related Electrical Equipment

REFERENCE:

Letter Lee to Collins dated

?iay 17,1983 (P-83178)

Dear Mr. Collins:

This letter is to advise your office of the status of three of the commitments PSC made in the referenced letter.

1. The PSC commitment to audit the environmental qualification records of equipment in the HELB environment is complete.
2. The valve actuators discussed in the referenced letter were tested and successfully passed the HELB tests.
3. The " Change Notice" authorizing additions to cur electrical schematic diagrams to identify HELB envircamental Safe Shutdown equipment has been released into the approval cycle. This Change Notice impacts the Operating Department quite severely and along with the upcoming refueling outage makes it impossible to rewrite the operating documents and allow the Change Notice to proceed at this time. Even though we will be unable to issue the drawings and lists to indicate that new items have been added until later, PSC commits to the following:

1) A list of items to be added to the Safety-Related category will bc provided to all personnel who perform maintenance of electrical equipment,
2) Only qualified replacement parts will be utilized in the maintenance of these Safety-Related components.

I trust this update and modification to the commitment date for issuing drawings is acceptable.

Very truly yours, M u. v H. L. Brey, Manager Nuclear Engineering Division HLB /JRR:pa A
