Fitness for Duty Program Data for the Period 7/1/97-12/31/97 Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 26.71, enclosed is the testing data and associated results for the Fitness for Duty Program at Vermont Yankee. The attached information includes both our corporate and plant locations as our program does not distinguish between the two sites but treats them as a sir.gle entity.

Also, provided as Attachment A, is the evaluation of the data for this same period.

  • No for cause tests were required this period.

POSITIVE RANDOM TEST RESULTS

  • One (1) positive random test result during this period. The VY employee tested positive for marijuana. Access authorization was immediately suspended and the individual was referred to the VY EAP for assistance. Following rehabilitation the employee was entered into the follow-up testing program and allowed to return to work.

FOLLOW-UP TESTING PROGRAM

  • One (1) Vi employee is currently in the follow-up testing program. Progress to date has been good.

TEST RESULTS ASSESSMENT

  • The test results for this period compared to previous periods indicate that Vermont Yankee maintains an effective FFD program, capable of early detection of potential problems.

The program ensures that the plant site remains a work environment free from the ef fec's of drugs or alcohol. The number of positive test rc,ults experienced this period are as expected during a period which does not include a refueling outage.
