  • Monthly Summary South Texas Project Unit i declared commercial operational status August 25 at 0001.

On August 26 a turbine / reactor trip occurred due to low stator water differential pressure. Subsequently a Safety Injection occurred due to low compensated steamline pressure. After the unit was placed on line on August 28, a turbine trip occurred delaying power ascension. By August 29 the unit was again on line.

Power ascension to 45% load commenced to allow troubleshooting tse the cause of the previous turbine trips. On August 30 the unit was reduced to 0% power to repair a steam leak in the main steam vent line.

PORVs and Safety Valves Summary No PORVs or Safety Valves were challenged during this reporting period.

Monthly Summary Following successful completion of the Reactor Trip at 100%

Power Test ending the July report period, STP Unit 1 again reached the 100% power plateau August 2.

From August 8 through 13 the unit reduced power to 0% to repack several regulator valves in the feedwater system and complete other specific maintenance tasks. The ascension toward 100% power began August 14 at a rate of approximately 3% per hour.

On August 16 the unit tripped during a Stator Cooling System pump switchover as preparations were being made for preventive maintenance on one of the pumps. Following a check of the Estimated Critical Conditions calculations, power ascension resumed and 100%

power was achieved August 20 marking the start of the 100-Hour NSSS Acceptance Test. The acceptance test was successfully completed August 24 ending the Initial Startup testing program.

On August 25. STP Unit I was declared commercially operable.
